Privacy policy
In short: Lore's AI model runs on your phone. We collect no data: there are no accounts, analytics or ads, and no Lore servers. Lore goes online only to run web searches, to fetch the pages it reads and to download its model once. Searches and page requests happen only when your request needs them.
1. Who we are
Lore is an Android app made by Rohit T P, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Lore app and this website, lore.rohittp.com. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. The AI runs on your device
Lore downloads an AI model (Gemma 4) once and then runs it on your phone. Your messages, the model's answers and the files you attach are processed on your phone. They are not sent to us or to any cloud AI service.
3. Data we collect
None. Lore has no accounts, analytics, advertising or Lore servers, so we never receive your Chats, Memories, Attachments or searches, or information about how you use the app.
This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes your IP address to deliver the pages, as any web host does.
4. Data stored on your device
Lore keeps the following in its private app storage on your phone:
- Chats: your messages, Lore's answers and the steps it took, including search results and excerpts of pages it read.
- Memories: the short notes Lore saves about lasting facts and preferences, and any you add yourself.
- Attachments: copies of the files and photos you add to a Chat, and the text read from them.
- Settings: your choices in the app, including your Brave Search API key if you add one.
- The AI model and a small diagnostics folder with up to five recent crash reports and a log of step timings (numbers only).
You can delete Memories on the Memory screen, and delete the model or remove your Brave key in Settings. Uninstalling Lore, or clearing its storage in Android's settings, deletes all of it.
Lore uses Android's standard app backup. If you've turned on backup to your Google account, Android may back up your Chats, Memories and settings there. Your Brave API key and your attached files are never included. Google handles that backup under your Google account settings, and we can't access it.
5. Data that leaves your device, at your request
Lore connects to the internet only in these cases:
- Search providers. When an answer needs a web search, Lore sends a search query based on your message to DuckDuckGo. If you've added your own Brave Search API key, it sends the query to Brave Search instead, and falls back to DuckDuckGo if Brave fails. The provider sees the query and your IP address and handles them under its own policy: Brave Search privacy policy, DuckDuckGo privacy policy.
- Websites Lore reads. Lore requests the pages it reads, as a browser would. Some pages are opened in a hidden in-app browser so their content can load. Those sites, and any services they embed, see your IP address and the request, under their own policies.
- The model download. Lore downloads its model once (about 2.6 to 3.7 GB) from models.rohittp.com, which Cloudflare (R2) hosts for us, or from Hugging Face if that fails. Cloudflare and Hugging Face see your IP address and which file was requested. We don't use these requests to identify you.
Nothing else is sent unless you choose to send it. For example, you might share or copy an answer, use “Report response” (which opens your email app with that one response for you to send to us), use “Share diagnostics” (see below) or email us. If you email us, we use what you send only to reply to you and to improve Lore, and we delete it if you ask.
6. Crash reports
Lore contains no crash-reporting or analytics library. If you've allowed your phone to share usage and diagnostics data, Google Play's Android vitals may send crash and app-freeze reports to Google, which shows them to us as crash statistics and stack traces. Your phone's settings control this, and Google's privacy policy covers it.
“Share diagnostics” (Settings → About & privacy) creates a file with up to five recent crash reports, the step timing log and a summary of your settings with the Brave key removed. It never includes Chats, Memories, Attachments or your API key. Nothing is sent automatically: you pick where the file goes in Android's share sheet.
7. Children
Lore is meant for adults and isn't directed at children under 18.
8. Security
Your data stays in Lore's private storage, protected by Android's app sandbox and your phone's own encryption and screen lock. Lore's network connections use HTTPS, and Lore checks the downloaded model against a fixed checksum before using it. No system is perfectly secure, so keep your phone locked and up to date.
9. Changes
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change affects what leaves your phone, we'll also say so in the app's release notes.
10. Contact
Send questions or requests about privacy to [email protected].
